Seasonal Variations of Australia
Australia is a continent that experiences a lot of different climates because of its size. The temperature can range from below zero in the Snowy Mountains in South Australia to extreme heat in the Kimberly region in the North-West of the Country.
Due to the size of the country, there is not a single seasonal calendar for the entire country, but 6 climatic zones and turns into 2 main seasonal patterns.
There is a Summer/ Autumn / Winter / Spring pattern in the temperate zone and a Wet / Dry pattern in the Northern Tropics including the sub-tropic and the Equatorial zones. Depending on where you are and the month, the season will vary if the weather is defined by the temperate seasons or tropic seasons.

Synoptic Chart.
Hobart is being affected by a high pressure system, whilst Darwin would be predominately affected by the low pressure system. This occurs due to the geographical distance between the 2 cities and their different climatic zones.
